Thank you for sharing your story. It's abeautiful one, that gives me hope for a peaceful, natural birth. I am expecting a boy this June. All the best to you and your family!

If you can do yoga 2 times a week that is great. I stayed active through out the pregnancy and worked out almost everyday. Without alcohol or caffeine, exercise was the only thing that picked me up and made me feel good! So do what makes you feel good and enjoy the experience!

I did find your story so helpful! Thanks again for sharing. I experienced my first pre-natal yoga class tonight, and it was amazing. I can't wait to return. If you don't mind me asking, how often did you practice? I am thinking twice per week is a good amount, but wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks so much!

I am so glad you found my story helpful, I hope it did not scare you too much. Honestly, if I have another child I am confident I will get through the birth without an epidural. Of course it is much easier knowing what to expect and the second child usually comes much quicker than the first, but it really was not as hard as I imagined. And I cannot recommend prenatal yoga enough. I was active through out my pregnancy, jogging, walking, swimming, Pilates and yoga. The yoga helped alleviate pregnancy related pain, helped me stay grounded and strong and meeting other expecting mothers was an amazing experience. I truly believe my relatively easy pregnancy and delivery was largely due to keeping active and doing yoga as often as possible. Stay positive and enjoy the experience!

OH.MY.GOD! I am freaking out after reading this. First and foremost, thank you for sharing it. It's about time I read something that was realistic and graphic. We soon-to-be moms need to hear the truth, and few to many publishings reveal it. Kudos and congratulations your way. Your baby is precious, and I hope you are enjoying every minute. I am considering a completely natural childbirth, but I just don't know anymore. My mom had all 3 of her children naturally, and has been pleading with me to AT LEAST get an epidural. My sister (who delivered in August 2011) had a scheduled C-section. She and I are very different, and the thought of so much as a contraction made her faint. I am really so torn, but I wanted to send my thanks your way. Your story has definitely made me think harder. I am due in June, so I have some time to make a decision. I will be attending my first pre-natal yoga class at MaYoga this Wednesday (December 7, 2011). I am an avid yoga practicioner, but have been out of practive for about 6 weeks due to the first trimester knocking me on my ass. I am finally feeling my energy returning, and am ready to get back into it. Again, thanks for sharing. You are a great writer, and I enjoyed reading your story. All the best to you and your family.
