Ma Yoga Living Tip from Ash Silver, Certified Ma Yoga® Prenatal & Mom Yoga Instructor

Hi Ma Yogis! My personal journey with yoga began in 1999, when I was blessed by a serendipitous encounter with an older yogi, who taught me how my body and breath were my entry points to freedom.

Fast forward ten years and I found myself studying Hatha yoga in a small ashram on the Southern tip of India, where I completed my first 200hrs.

I began my prenatal training immediately afterwards and instantly felt at home in my work. I am now devoted to supporting mamas on their birth journey from conception through motherhood.

It is such a joy and honor to be here with you, part of the MaYoga family, co-creating a space of healing, strength and community.

Before MaYoga, my passion for the healing arts took me all over the world, studying with different yogic masters in Fiji, India, Italy, Ireland, and Peru, as well as with a special yoga therapist in Hawaii.

In 2017 I furthered my study of the intersection between science and spirituality and received my Masters degree in clinical psychology where I focused on the transformative power of movement through both eastern and western modalities of healing. I am also a certified Holistic Health Coach, Spiritual Healer and Birth Doula.

As each day is different, new and often unpredictable, my little tip is the practice of radical trust in the process.

You can practice sourcing this trust by finding a mantra (a word or phrase to repeat) that reminds you that your body knows the way.

When we attach this mantra to our breath, we let our nervous system relax enough for our body’s wisdom to come online and guide the way forward. I can’t wait to have you in class and move into your most intuitive empowered Self. See you on the mat!

Every week, I look forward to my prenatal yoga time with Ash. She is an absolutely wonderful teacher and she sets such an empowering, loving, supportive tone to each and every class. She always infuses each session with an intention, a piece of wisdom, or a quote/thought and it's a powerful way to connect to our bodies, movement, our babies, and the world around us. So thankful I found Ash! 5/5 stars for class every single time.

I absolutely love Ma Yoga! I've been taking the prenatal classes since my second trimester and it has made my pregnancy a dream. I really enjoy getting to connect with other mom's who are going through similar experiences at the beginning of each class and my body has never felt better. When I first started I had terrible sciatica pain and could barely bend at all, but Ashley was so incredibly helpful with modifications and stretches that released my hamstrings, and before I knew it the pain was completely gone and my body still feels amazing, even now at 38 weeks! I truly look forward to Mondays at 8am with Ashley. Her classes are so healing and truly set the tone for the entire week.

LOVE IT! The teachers are always super loving and caring even though there are on the other side of the screen. I loved her energy, her flow, she truly listened to me and another mommy and shared some wisdom on the yoga mat to attend to our needs on that day. I particularly was having a headache and didn't think I could do it. Ash didn't push me at all, she just allowed me to be there and join as I felt like. Well, I ended up feeling great and headache was gone!

I finished Ash's class with a clear mind and my body felt more open, more aligned, and energized to face the rest of the day! She started with a thoughtful meditation which I appreciated--it helped me let go of the rest of my day. Definitely recommend!

Why I Believe Every Yoga Teacher Should Receive Prenatal Training

It’s true, not everyone wants to teach prenatal yoga. Still, most of us will know someone we care about who gets pregnant, and most yoga teachers will find themselves teaching with a pregnant woman in the room. Knowing how we can best support them – and not pass along more anxiety and fear – is the greatest gift we can give a mom-to-be.
