Ma Yoga Living Tip from Lindy Ker, Certified Ma Yoga® Prenatal & Mom Yoga Instructor

ERYT, C-IAYT

Hey mama, I am so happy you are here! Welcome to Ma Yoga Living, a well-spring of knowledge and support. I am devoted to helping all women gain greater awareness and a deeper understanding inside their bodies.

My #1 recommendation for future, present, and experienced mamas is to focus on your breath every single day. Even if it’s just for a few minutes. When we are aware of our breath, we are present, listening, and connecting directly with the life force responsible for life itself. As we continue to nurture the relationship with our breath, we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and rediscover our innate feminine power.

I was drawn to teach prenatal yoga because all women have a primal maternal power within them. This power is our birthright and is awakened with the right kind of guidance and support. My goal is to empower all women to tap into this limitless potential and to support their healthy transformation and nurturing connection with their babies.

Ma Yoga teacher training gave me an insightful lens to see and embody my own feminine power through accessible, personalized, intuitive alignment steps which enabled me to experience greater joy and freedom in all aspects of my life.

I am a yoga educator, wellness empowerment facilitator, and Certified Yoga Therapist. I specialize in yoga therapy for feminine embodiment preconception to postpartum, positive lifestyle empowerment, yoga for scoliosis, and chronic pain management.

Lindy was an amazing instructor. I felt so relaxed after and less tensed. She was also so caring, attentive and took time to talk to each student to know them more.

I took two abSOULutely fabulous classes today(1/20/22): Morning class with "Lindy" Evening class with Melanie. Melanie provided us with spectacular pelvis opening poses, Lindy did spectacular upper back opening poses(Lindy was my first class after a long hiatus, she was so soothing and healing for me. I went in feeling rusty and a bit "off", I left class feeling safe and nurtured.) Melanie's class was also exceptional; her pelvic openers really soothed my lower back; It is tingling now in a state of ultimate relief!) Both Lindy and Melanie took the time to ask each student how they were feeling and adjusted the class according to what each student needed and was safe to do. I have been a yoga practitioner for approximately 30 years; yoga is my anchor in life. I highly recommend both Lindy and Melanie. They are precious gifts.

What Would Life Look Like If We Came From Love, Not Fear?

Lately I’ve been trying to be more careful, mostly because I keep screwing up. First, we flew back from Japan without masks and my husband got Covid. Somehow I avoided it, but since I was born with asthma and I know repeat infections increase the risk of Long Covid, it felt like a close call.

Then, a beautiful antique glass towel holder fell out of its holder in the bathroom. It didn’t break, and I was so relieved. So what did I do? I put it back, even though it felt like it wasn’t being held tightly. Next day, it fell and broke.

How Ma Yoga Prenatal Principles Change Regular Yoga Teaching

It’s true, not everyone wants to teach prenatal yoga. Still, most of us will know someone we care about who gets pregnant, and most yoga teachers will find themselves teaching with a pregnant woman in the room. Knowing how we can best support them – and not pass along more anxiety and fear – is the greatest gift we can give a mom-to-be.
