“I love the profound wisdom of the methodology and Jessica, its founder. The Ma Yoga approach is not only beneficial in the time around giving birth, it can change your whole perspective on life.”
– Ann-Christin G.
Hop on Zoom Wednesdays and Saturdays, or watch the videos on your own and stay with us in our training circle.
Prenatal yoga teacher training should be way more than learning what pregnant women can and can’t do, or lists of poses.
At Ma Yoga, it’s also about exploring the answer to this question: what is the opportunity that pregnancy brings us?
Mny women slow down and listen inward in a whole new way during this time of life.
Being pregnant, teaching prenatal yoga, even talking about pregnancy is a chance to reconnect to our feminine side.
In yoga, it’s “Shakti” – in Chinese Medicine, “Yin”. It’s not about gender, sexuality or archetypes (we all have all of it within us), but our culture doesn’t really reward us for slowing down, feeling-our-way forawrd, being ok with not knowing and needing each other.
Pregnancy is a beautiful time for us to relearn how to truly nurture ourselves, support the flow of prana (life force), and incorporate simple but powerful routines that will support healing and thriving for our whole lives.
The syllable “Ma” in almost every language means “mother”. In Sanskrit it also means “the highest, most powerful and wise.”
Ma Yoga isn’t just about learning to be a mother to a baby. It’s about learning to mother ourselves.
And with the right kind of support and guidance, pregnancy can be a doorway for all of us to our highest, most powerful and wise “Ma” Self.
Moms-to-be need and deserve to be cared for so they can experience their journey as the miracle it is. In the same way, as you become a prenatal yoga teacher you’ll receive personal support and guidance from Ma Yoga Founder Jessica Jennings, MS, ERYT, RYPT, plus our global community of teachers and birth practitioners all coming together to help you step into your greatest possibilities.
There’s no right way to give birth. Similarly, we believe prenatal yoga teacher training should fit with your unique life. You can join us live on Zoom calls, watch the videos and stay with your group, or do the whole thing on your own time – or any combination of the above. You’ll have lifetime access to all course materials and the supportive Ma Yoga community.
Teaching prenatal yoga means watching women go from anxious pregnant women to empowered mama bears. The Ma Yoga Prenatal Teacher Training will not only help you confidently teach prenatal yoga, you’ll also find your own “Ma” voice and teach from a new place of authentic wisdom and power.
Hi I’m Jessica Jennings. I’m so glad you found us!
I created Ma Yoga® as a new mom in 2009 with the idea in mind fo have a Mama Circle in every neighborhood.
More than 25,000 pregnant mamas and new moms have come through our classes both in person and online, and have learned simple but empowerful practices that help them feel supported, grounded, and spacious – and ready for anything.
Ma Yoga is rooted in the five elements of nature, and teaches simple alignment actions to bring space, steadiness, watery playful energy, firey power and freedom into every pose.
When you learn these principles in our prenatal yoga teacher training – what I call the “Five Sacred Steps” – you will have a guide for every co-creative act you do, from teaching a pose to writing a poem to being a mom to fulfilling the promise within your own heart.

Teach mamas to make space for baby plus create a strong container for baby. Address common pregnancy conditions including depression, anxiety and aches and pains. Help moms-to-be enjoy this exciting time.
One in three women report that their birth was traumatic, and Black women are three times more likely to die in childbirth than white women. Help women learn to breathe through intense sensation, gather a nurturing team, and connect to their “ROAR” – so they are ready for an empowering birth.
One in seven mothers experience postpartum depression – and anxiety is becoming even more common. Help women incorporate nurturing practices and routines in advance so they can heal completely postpartum, and help new moms build their bodies back better than ever.

Completing the four trainings above plus your mentorship and class visits fulfills the requirements for Ma Yoga® Certified Instructor/Yoga Alliance RPYT. Yoga Alliance does require a regular 200-hour training to get the RPYT designation, which you can take anytime. Ma Yoga provides a solid foundation for any future yoga teaching or training you might do, and gives you all the tools you need to teach your own “Mama Circle” right away – you can even apply to teach with us on our online platform after your mentorship.
Yes, the four 3-week trainings are all online, and you can take them either live on Zoom, watch them on your own time – or both.
If you prefer to be live on Zoom but you get busy during the training, just reach out and we’ll put you on the roster for the next one.
Yes, the Ma Yoga Prenatal Yoga Certification (RPYT) Program was created in collaboration with Yoga Alliance in 2012. This means if you have your RYT, this program fulfills the requirements for your RPYT Certification.
You don’t need any previous training or experience to take this course, and get all the tools you need to start teaching mamas.
While you can’t get the RPYT letters after your name unless you have your RYT, you can say you are Ma Yoga Certified, and to anyone who is familiar with prenatal yoga trainings this means the highest quality.
If you do decide to do a regular training in the future, you’ll have a leg up as you will learn foundational alignment principles that will help you in any trainings or teaching you do.
If you do choose to do a 200-hour yoga teacher training (RYT) down the road, you can submit your Ma Yoga Certificate to Yoga Alliance and get your RPYT at that time.
If you feel drawn to teaching prenatal yoga, we highly recommend that you start with this training as the principles you learn are easier to learn first, as a basis for all yoga practices.
