Alignment Therapy for Pain Relief and Healing

If you have discomforts, birth-related issues or chronic conditions...

You don’t have to live with pain or discomfort.

I’m Jessica and I’m a Certified Kinesiologist and Alignment Geek.

If you have chronic issues, you’ve probably been to a ton of practitioners, and maybe gotten temporary relief from some.

But with simple, subtle shifts in how you stand, move and breathe, you can empower yourself – and take your healing into your own hands.

Therapeutic Yoga combines biomechanics with energetic and breathing practices to relieve pain and support healing.

It doesn’t matter what pose you’re in, or what issues you have.

Supporting the optimal flow of prana – the intelligent, healing power of the body – will always help.

Join me for a personal consult to talk about whether Therapeutic Yoga can help you with your particular challenge – pain in the low back, shoulder, wrist; injury in the knee or other joints; auto-immune issues and anxiety and stress or chronic undiagnosed pain.

I thought I would have wrist pain forever, but just by learning to support my weight in my shoulders, I have started to alleviate this issue. It was wonderful to learn that we are more powerful than we know and be given the tools to use this power to heal.

Jessica is such a wonderful teacher.

The alignment-based yoga she teaches coupled with her extensive knowledge from decades of teaching bring such depth and compassion to her teaching. I intend to take her classes for as long as she is teaching.

Please give yourself the gift of taking a class with Jessica.

Thank you so much for these practices Jessica!! The shoulder one was so helpful!

I have several joints that extend beyond range of motion and when some teachers give alignment queues and I follow them literally, I go too far.

I really appreciate that your alignment queues help account for this issue — as I suspect a good percentage of yogis have hypermobile joints…

Obviously it wasn’t the poses that healed – because sometimes that hurt.

To figure out what the mechanism of healing was, I studied cadavers with pre-meds at UCLA, became a Certified Personal Trainer and received my Masters in Kinesiology.

I finally found the answer I was looking for in Anusara Yoga, and the idea of alignment.

In alignment-based yoga, every pose is an opportunity to align our muscles and bones with what’s called the “optimal blueprint.”

I learned that it’s not the pose we do that heals, it’s what we’re doing inside the pose that matters.

It’s moving the breath, the muscles, even the bones and organs in their optimal direction, like physical therapy, that allows the body to find body stability and ease.

That’s why we can be hurting ourselves on the mat, and healing ourselves while we’re driving.

I pared down the alignment principles that work for low back pain, knee pain and other common aches and pains so I could help people out of their pain and suffering.

Issues people come to Alignment Therapy for...

I can’t promise your condition will go away instantly… but I can promise you will feel better, and over time, you will be supporting your body’s natural ability to heal and thrive.

The Five Sacred Steps of Alignment Therapy

Over the 20+ years I spent helping people out of pain with a combination of Kinesiology and yoga, I developed a pretty simple system to understand what an a particular body area might need to feel better and heal.

Alignment-based yoga uses the five elements as a “checklist” to find balance physically, mentally and spiritually:

SPACE - Receptivity

We’ll make space in your body, starting with the breath. Generally, compression is the cause of muscoloskeletal pain, so we’ll identify where you need more space for circulation and get instant relief.

EARTH - Steadiness

Wherever you want to keep space, you also need a strong container for it – or stability. We’ll wake up the muscles that are supposed to be doing this in your challenge area, by creating strength create strength.

WATER - Release

Deep within your hips and shoulders you have muscles that tend to group when you’re stressed – and stay tight long after. This can pull on the lower back, pelvis and hips causing pain and suffering. You’ll release these so you can get a little playful, flowy energy back in.

FIRE - Rootedness

What does it mean to engage your core fully, without sucking the belly, flattening the back, or any of the other common misalignments? You’ll learn how to root in to the support that’s within you while keeping the space and watery flow – so you feel supported even while you’re relaxed.

AIR - Freedom

Once you’ve got space, stability, release in the deep hip flexors and support from your core – you get to actively expand. This is the “stretch” – and the moment that healing happens: when circulation, nerves, lymph and prana flow in a whole new way through you. Enjoy!

Looking forward to helping you align with your body’s healing intelligence and power.
