Welcome to the Fertility Buddy Members Page.

We are not in charge.  As my birth mentor Julie Freitas told me, “Jessica, if pregnancy doesn’t teach you that, labor will; and if labor doesn’t teach you that, your children will.”

The fertility journey is sometimes the first time we are faced with something that really is so beyond our control (maybe besides illness and death of loved ones).  So we can’t expect to just know how to handle this when we have such little experience with such things… jobs, relationships, homes we can change… but this is a tough one.

But it can be a gift.  It can open us up to the reality that are bigger forces in life than our will and our desire; even than our heart’s intention.  The universe is always at play, and we don’t get to control it.

BUT… we can have a profound affect.  AND we can be ready.  AND we can enjoy the process.

That’s where the yoga lifestyle practices come in… to give us a very clear experience of doing all that we can do, and letting the rest go.  To focus on becoming the mom we want to be on the deepest levels – a powerful, creative, nurturing force for ourselves and all of those around us. And to appreciate the gifts we’re getting along the way.

So to sum up, our 3 goals are:

1.)   Increase the chances of getting pregnant

2.)   Get healthy and ready to become a mom

3.)   Enjoy the process of growth, learning and personal evolution as much as possible

1.)   Create a supportive team

  1. Acupuncture – find someone you can get to; get on herbs to regulate cycle –
  2. Fertility Specialist – if you don’t love yours, let me know and I’ll give you two suggestions

2.)   Meditate every morning and right before bed: I think this is the most important thing we can do to calm the crazy.  Try to get into a rhythm with it, like taking a shower.

  1. Read https://www.mayoga.com/yoga_of_motherhood/easy-meditation-for-moms/
  2. More meditation teachings: Craig Hamilton (http://www.integralenlightenment.com/) , Sally Kempton (http://www.sallykempton.com/meditation/meditation-faq/) , www.yogaglo.com

3.)   Hot water first thing (and then all day if possible)

4.)   Warm, liquidy foods when possible (see attached recipes for soups and warm salads, and dressing for steamed veggies – esp. miso dressing – yum!). Make the miso dressing on Sunday and you can have it all week for dinners.

5.)   Green smoothie – read this blog (try to add some lukewarm water so it’s not too cold) – https://www.mayoga.com/yoga_of_motherhood/easy-green-smoothie/

6.)   Buy rice cooker (stainless steel) and good blender.

7.)   Buy extra virgin coconut oil at Whole Foods, and put some in a plastic squirt bottle.  Keep a plastic container in bathtub.  Before the shower, put the coconut oil squirt bottle into hot water in the plastic container for a couple minutes.  Then squeeze out and rub all over body.  Shower.  No soap.  Someday, you will do this for your baby and then your toddler will do it for you.

8.)   Other items: go out and look at the moon when possible – open heart and hands to it; do the juicy pelvis circles etc we did at the fertility yoga workshop; snack on as much fruits and veggies as you want; finish dinner 3 hours before bed; heaviest meal in the middle of the day.
