Space: A Simple Way to Deal with Stress

Without space for ourselves, we start amassing energetic remnants that can prevent us from seeing clearly. With daily space, we can deal with stress…

After a walk along the ocean yesterday with my daughter, who spent her time screaming “I have magic powers!” and having a lively conversation with the ocean, I got my fix of the element SPACE.

Deal with Stress by Creating Space

When we give ourselves space, we can deal with stress without even noticing we’re unloading it.

Not only that, but life is change and with change comes confusion. When we make space, whether it’s “space for baby” in prenatal yoga class, or space for our own creative flow, more consciousness can flow through. We reconnect to a deep knowing about who we are and why we are here.

Deal with Stress by Conecting with your Deeper Purpose

I believe we each have a deeper purpose for being here, and no one can know what yours is but you. Often, no one else can understand it even after you told them about it. For instance, I recently saw a Ted Talk with David Blaine, he decided he wanted to beat the world record and hold his breath for 17 minutes.

Now, I’m not sure why anyone would want to do that. It sounds awful to me. BUT it was beautiful to hear the story of how he responded to this yearning in his heart.

What if he had been too busy or stressed to stop and listen to his dream arising?

He never would have called Oprah and gotten a date to try. He never would have trained so that he could learn to slow his heart rate down to 35 bpm. He never would have experienced the supportive cheers of the audience in that last minute that let him finish his goal of so many years, and the rewards of the lessons learned along the way.

Maybe your dream isn’t formed yet. Or maybe you know just what you are longing for. Either way, try making space for it to grow this week in between mama tasks.

You can either find some literal space (take a walk in a big park or on a beach), or experience the ever-expanding space of awareness (sit with a notebook and write down whatever arises). Give yourself space between the high-stress moments.

What comes through when we give ourselves space is a sense of our purpose on this earth.  It doesn’t matter if people will think it’s weird, or if it doesn’t fit with our plans. We don’t often know what gifts we will get from following our dharma, or purpose. Giving ourselves space will help deal with stress along the way.

Step back and give yourself some space. Trust that what comes through in the form of desire is the flow of the divine feminine, which IS you. Universal energy is up to something big with you, and as long as you give it space it’s going to keep flowing through, guiding you, inspiring you, and loving you.
